Macyswim For a Cure
I have found that I can make a difference in the lives of others by swimming. Through the creation of “MacySwim for a Cure,” I’m able to use my swimming for personal enjoyment but also to donate to the Masonic Cancer Center at the University of Minnesota earmarked for Breast Cancer research.
This cause is a way for me to honor my family and friends who are and have been courageous in their fight against breast cancer. My grandma and my aunts fought the disease, resulting in 3 wins and 1 loss. My mother also beat her battle with breast cancer. Unfortunately, I then lost my mother to another health issue — way too soon. However, she was so involved in my goal to raise $50,000 for breast cancer research that I believe by continuing my swimming and my fundraising she is with me every step of the way. And I know with help of people like you, we can reach this goal.
