This is a common question from the fishermen at Hagg Lake. While mostly amusing, this one was a little frustrating. Tim and I were just finishing up a 45 minute swim and the fishing boat was in our path. We calmly began to tread water waiting for them to pass. As they motored down they yelled out “Are you crazy?” Trying to keep my teeth from chattering out of my head I replied “Not that I know of.” They responded “It’s 50 degrees in there.” Again still trolling slowly and not clearing our path, I’m thinking “No kidding, I hadn’t noticed.” But instead I smiled and said “Yes, it is.” Finally they passed as did their fishing lines. We completed the swim.
It was a beautiful day and I really could have stayed in a little longer, but Tim was feeling the cold. I partially think it is because he didn’t eat 8 cinnamon rolls like I did the weekend before. Oh well. The swimmers from Austin hadn’t warned me about Tim’s homemade cinnamon rolls. Thankfully I convinced him not to bring any this weekend. Maybe this is the way my friend Mark Robson can put on some weight…find a training partner that bakes and leaves you the extras.
Here is a picture of Tim and I before the swim. It is a little hard to get pictures while swimming as there are only 2 of us and neither of us want to get out and stand there soaking wet to take photos. Plus with all the shaking, we are pretty sure that they wouldn’t turn out anyways.
